When I was revamping my blog, I thought it would be a great thing to show the recent comments of the visitors in the right sidebar. Since I have worked on wordpress, I thought there would be some widget for that for blogger too. Unfortunately, blogger doesn't come with such widget. You always have an option to use third party widgets (that can be integrated into blogger quite easily). For me, I don't prefer this approach mainly because of two reasons.
- You can never trust a third party widget in terms of privacy. It can access cookies and other information quite easily.
- Third party widgets can perform poorly in terms of performance (Additional JS, Memory Cosumption, etc).
- Go to Dashboard > Layout.
- Click on the 'Add a widget' option where you want to add the widget.
- The 'Add a widget' window will popup. Make sure the 'Basics' option is selected.

- Next, select the '+' sign next to the Feed Widget.

- An option will appear asking you for the Feed URL.
- Add the following feed URL
http://[YOUR_BLOG.blogspot.com]/feeds/comments/default?alt=atom&callback=showrecentcomments. In my case, the feed URL would be
http://fahimilyas.blogspot.com/feeds/comments/default?alt=atom&callback=showrecentcomments
- An option would appear asking for the title, number of items to be shown and their description. You may want to play with these settings as the preview is available below the options. Once you are done, press the save button.

- That's it. You would see the recently added widget in your layout. Save the changes and view the blog :).
